Do you remember the last time you washed your mattress or pillow? Or maybe just performed a cleaning mechanism to get rid of the odour?

Whatever be the duration, it isn’t done recently, right?

On average, a person sweats around a half pint of perspiration each night, and to add to this, a mattress nurtures stains, spills, dust, dust mites, etc. And given the current season when humidity has taken over, pillows and mattresses smell the most.

While we spend a lot of time washing sheets and the pillow covers, hardly do we pay attention to what lies beneath these.

Considering that you spend a considerable time on the bed, over those pillows, it is important to take care of them and try different ways to get rid of the smell.

Don’t worry; we are here to help you out.

Four tricks to clean your mattress

1. Keep it clean and fresh

What this means is that you need to give them the room to breathe or fresh. The next time you set out to wash your sheets or covers, let the pillow stay without any cover for a while. What else you can do is turn on the fan and leave the pillow and mattress for a while. This while help dry the moisture within the pillow. In addition to the above, you can consider sprinkling baking soda over the mattress. Use a brush to vacuum away the baking powder and keep your pillow fresh.

2. Vacuuming

An important thing to do is clean your mattress dry. Vacuuming is all about removing the dead skin or the dust from the mattress. Use an upholstery attachment to do the job.

3. Room refreshment

Do you need to spray a deodorant? Apparently not! What we mean to say here is something different. When you buy a new foam mattress, it is bound to cover your entire room with a bad odor. Now you may not like this and so we need to take measures to refresh your room. What you can do here is place a bowl of vinegar inside the room. Vinegar has the ability to absorb the airborne odor keeping your room fresh. You can use this to deodorize drains as well.

4. Baking Soda to deodorize odor

Another way to remove the bad smell is by using a baking soda. It is a natural deodorizer and has the ability to cancel out the bad smell filling up your entire room. What you need to do is sift some baking soda over the mattress and then let this stay for 30 minutes. If required, you can add some essential oil before sifting. This would have a different smell covering the entire atmosphere. Once done, vacuum the soda using an upholstery attachment.

Sounds good? Try these ways on your own and tell us how it worked. You will definitely love the end-result.
